Readers, I am delighted to be able to report that the July 1, 2026 ham radio get-together is going forward as planned.

This inaugural meeting (see Save the date!) will start at 6PM on Wednesday, July 1 at the North Branch of the Summit County Library.  This is at 651 Center Circle, Silverthorne, CO 80498.

A first door prize is the Seeed Studio LoRa mesh starter kit shown above.  A second door prize is a study book for the amateur radio technician class exam, seen at right.  Starting on July 1, 2026, the exams for this license will be based on a new question pool. This book covers the July 1, 2026 question pool.  This makes this book very timely since the winner will win this book on that day.

You might wonder what you can do with this LoRa mesh starter kit — I discuss some of the possible uses for the kit here.

Please drop me a note (carl at oppedahl dot com) with your suggestions for the agenda and comments on the draft agenda.  And please let me know that you plan to attend.

The study book would be ideal for a would-be ham who hopes to take and pass the exam for the entry-level amateur radio license, called the technician-class license.  But the study book would also be ideal for an already-licensed ham who wishes to give the book as a gift to a friend or family member who hopes to study for and pass this exam.

For more information about this upcoming meeting, see Save the date!  And watch for future blog postings in which I discuss some of the topics for the meeting agenda.
